Just got back from a quick snowshoe across the golf course. Blowing like billy-be-damned, but gorgeous–white white snow, blue blue sky, black black trees, huffing huffing me. Here in RI this snow will probably be gone by tomorrow, or at least not deep enough to snowshoe on. My cardinals and finches and mourning doves will be glad to hear this. They’re all whittering twittering about my windowsill birdfeeder as if they expected this weather to go on forever.

Not to rub it in, but I tried out my new snow shoes three times yesterday–once in the morning on 8 inches of fresh powder through the woods to the beach; once after lunch, tromping about my neighborhood; and once at about 11 pm–couldn’t sleep, moon was full, and oh my how lovely it was! Today, everything is melting away. We can’t keep snow long on the ground here in RI. Birds are beginning to sing spring songs.
